Matariki is the Maori New Year, and these platter boards are the perfect way to celebrate. We partnered with Kyle Ratana Illustrator & Designer to create these four boards this year, which are inspired by all nine stars in the cluster, as well as their connection to kai (food) and whenua (land).
Engraved with a unique Whetu (star) pattern designed by Kyle Ratana Illustrator & Designer, each board has a name for each star in the Matariki cluster: Tupuanuku (connects to good grown in the whenua), Tupuarangi (connects to food from the sky), Waiti (food from freshwater sources awa), Waita (Kai from oceans Moana).
With your Matariki platter board, you can make the most of this holiday with an array of delicious dishes. This unique platter board is great for serving up appetisers, salads, and dessert.
These boards are made from bamboo, so it's strong and sturdy, but also soft and lightweight. They measure 35cm (H) x 25cm (W) x 1.8cm (D). They will hold good portions of grazing food, enough to cater for between 2-6 people per board.
Each platter board is unique—there will be differences between each board as that’s the nature of engraving onto bamboo. Each pre-ordered platter board will ship with a test pot of Danish Oil—food grade / food safe.
